The Rhizome Team

Joseph King, PhD, PE has taught at Harvey Mudd College for 20 years. Prior to doing the work of the college, he worked as a production engineer for major manufacturing firms in the US. He has maintained an active consulting business for the last 25 years. The consulting business has provided manufacturing design and troubleshooting on an international scale for various federal and industrial clients including the Danaher Corporation. More recently, Dr. King has started Redmountain Embedded Systems which is a firm aimed at providing innovative solutions to real problems using embedded microcontrollers.
Matt Jeffryes, HMC '08 has over 7 years of programming experience and 3 years of experience in embedded electronics. While studying engineering at Harvey Mudd College, he has emphasized embedded microcontrollers and wireless communications. Matthew has developed research and project management skills leading an engineering clinic team and HMC and collaborating with international wireless communications researchers at KOM, TU-Darmstadt, Germany. His research includes routing algorithms for IEEE 802.15.4, development of a wireless ullage meter, and design of database applications for sustainability audits. Matthew's primary responsibilities at Rhizome Systems include design of the energy database, as well as network communications and UI.
